FAQ

Why not have both? We offer different things, even if the cameras look the same. I had my

wedding photos on my wall for 5 years, before they were replaced by pictures of the kids!

But we watch our highlight reel every single year on our anniversary and every time I watch it, I remember exactly how it felt to be there on the day.

I hear from a lot of couples that they wish they’d had a video of their wedding – the day

goes by SO FAST! It’s like a 10 hour, emotionally intense networking event. That’s not to

mention the expense of the day.

For me, I’d say couples should always try and fit wedding film into their budget (it doesn’t

have to be me, it just needs to be someone!). When the food is eaten, the cake is gone, and

the dancing finished – you’re only left with one or two things that will last for the rest of your life to remember the day. Your photos and your video.

A wedding video is an investment, I know – but most of the cost comes from buying lots of my time.

So, to start with, I limit how many weddings I take each year to ensure I can put every ounce of myself into each one.  Each video takes about 5-10 times longer than the hours I’m actually filming with you.

It’s also about buying my experience.  I’ve been doing this for more than 10 years, across over 200 weddings. I’ve been lucky enough to win the South West Wedding Awards 5 times (voted for by my incredible couples).

But mostly – and actually this is priceless – I really care about your film. Dozens of hours, hundreds of video clips, every bit of my heart and soul goes into each one. That takes time, and artistic expertise.

If you can find any extra food to feed the creatives, I’ll be delighted – achieving ninja levels of agility encumbered by cameras is a tiring business. It’s not a contract requirement, but I can’t tell you how much it helps.

But don’t, for goodness sake, worry about silver service suppers or fitting me into the table plan – it’s much easier to eat on the fly (after all, I’ve got rather a lot to do)

We offer 3 films. Every package includes a Teaser and a Highlights, while the Documentary

Feature is available as an add-on, or as part of the Gold package.

Teaser – a short (60 seconds) video, giving an emotional flavour of the day. Perfect for social

media and quick sharing.

Highlights – The epic film! 8-10 minutes, the very best bits from your whole day. All the

emotion, all the joy – beautifully edited into something incredibly special and memorable

Documentary Feature – The most comprehensive film of your day.  The full ceremony (cutting between the 2-3 cameras to always have the best angle), full speeches (again, from multiple cameras) and first dance along with everything else I’ve shot that I think you’ll want to see. I store all footage for a year, and film everything as comprehensively as possible, so you could ask for this as an add on after the day as well.

I love working with photographers! I genuinely see it as one of my key strengths. I usually

try and send a quick email or Instagram message to say hello before the big day, if it’s the

first time we’ve worked together.

On the day, it sounds so simple, but it’s just about being nice! I like to have a laugh and work

together – when we collaborate, you get the best possible photos and video!

I’ll send you a booking form, which you’ll fill in and send back. And I ask for a £400 deposit,

with the rest of the balance paid 2-4 weeks before the big day itself.

Closer to the date, I’ll send over a questionnaire about your day. And then we can hop on a

quick catch up call to fill in any gaps.

No…and yes.

You can’t use chart music on public platforms (Youtube, Instagram, Facebook etc) due to copyright laws. This is the same deal for any videographer.  The wedding film will be muted or taken down.

However, I subscribe to several music licensing sites every year (with hundreds of thousands of tracks available), and I always encourage couples to look at them to make selections about tracks they like. You’re going to watch this film for the next 50 years, so I try to make sure you like the music! Then from your suggestions, I can pick the songs I think suit your day best.

Of course, I’m happy to pick for you!!! But I always offer the choice.

I don’t recommend this as a way to relive the day. Initially, most of what I film can’t be played without having editing software. But even if you can, clicking through hundreds of clips, one at a time, it just isn’t a fun experience. I also shoot in LOG, meaning the footage is very flat and desaturated until I push all the colour back in when editing.

If you want to see everything (and I certainly did when I got married!) I recommend the Documentary Feature Film. It includes all the good footage, but without any repeated shots, and it has all cut down to the best bits of each clip, while also having the colour and style put back in.

Each wedding requires a huge attention to detail, and that process takes time (especially when you film as much as I do!), often more than a full working week. The busier months develop more of a backlog, so my contract states 12-24 weeks. Honestly though (and I say this as someone who vividly remembers having to wait for his wedding video to arrive) – a longer wait is actually better. After crash landing back into normal post-wedding life, you’ll forget so much about the day. So to then have it all come rushing back as you watch the video…it’s an amazing feeling.
All of our packages include digital delivery, transferred via Vimeo and Dropbox. This is perfect, as you can copy the file onto as many hard drives as you like for safe keeping! Our Gold package includes a stylised usb in a display case, and this is possible to purchase as an add-on. But 90% of our weddings have purely digital delivery.
I do! Video is the majority of what I do, but I certainly do stills as well. More often though, people ask me to recommend photographers, and in ten years I’ve developed an amazing group who I have worked with quite a few times. Ask me for more details, and I’ll be happy to chat it through. In terms of doing both on the day, it is definitely possible. It means picking a priority for either stills or video – and in most cases I can cover both simultaneously – but we’d have a chat about it to understand the compromises.
I usually film weddings across Devon and Cornwall, with occasional trips to Somerset. But I am happy to cover the entire UK and destination events in Europe! In the last five years, I’ve been to London, Brighton, Cardiff, Shrewsbury, and the Cotswolds. Outside of Devon and Cornwall, there is usually a small charge for expenses – to cover mileage and overnight stays (if a wedding is more than 2 hours from where I live, I recommend me staying nearby the night before. The thought of traffic making me late for a wedding is genuinely a recurring nightmare of mine)
