Every room, spacious and elegant – with areas indoors or out, to suit the weather. Accommodation on site – and one of the most breathtaking sunset locations you could ever hope to see.

A genuine all in one venue, there is space for more than two dozen guests to stay on-site. There are separate rooms for ceremony, speeches/food and evening reception. Set in the beautiful Devon countryside, there’s a real sense of exclusivity.
Advantages for wedding video – Morning Prep
Probably the most spacious and well-lit bridal prep room we’ve ever filmed in, Rockbeare makes video production easy! Only Boconnoc comes close in terms of space, but even that can’t match the airy, modern rooms here. There are multiple windows, so hair and make-up can work at the same time, in the same conditions. And the main bridal room also has two doors, meaning that bridesmaids and friends/family can come and go without fear of revealing the bride too early.
Advantages for wedding video Devon – Ceremony
There are two potential spaces for the ceremony – dependent on weather, it can be indoors or out. Outside, the space is slightly unconventional – 20+ short rows ranging back from a small building at the front. The vows take place inside (as per the requirements for a legal UK ceremony) with the remainder being stood at the top of the steps,
Bridal approach is suitably dramatic, leaving the main building to walk across the lawn to reach the path, and then the eventual approach down the aisle. It looks lovely in video (and we have a far better view than at 90% of other venues).
Once the ceremony starts, Rockbeare has the advantage of a lovely background, even at this elevation – with the treeline being visible behind the couple. And the long aisle rows also give a great confetti run on exit, which is a popular choice.
Advantages for wedding video – Outside Spaces
Set as it is in the middle of the countryside, it makes sense that Rockbeare is surrounded by open spaces. But in this instance, we mean that the grounds are lovely – with several specific areas, allowing for a large wedding party. Out front, there are several trees and well maintained grass fields. And the back has several areas – one raised and the other recessed.
Every single one is great for photos. And being at different orientations, they catch the sun slightly differently, which is a big help for group photos – allowing you/your photographer to position everybody to get the best possible shots.
Advantages for wedding video – Sunset
Mid afternoon sunshine filming looks amazing at Rockbeare, but the place looks incredible in golden hour! At our last visit there, with Ruth and Liam, the sunset loveliness was put to good use – with a mini outdoor party happening to the rear of the building (the ‘family band’ were playing!), while the couple went out front, with the light directly behind them, for couples photos.
Sunset/golden hour filming is our favourite of the day. By this point, everyone is used to us and the photographer and has had a few drinks – hopefully we’ll have had 10 minutes for photos in the afternoon as well, so the couple will know what to expect.
