As Covid restrictions are slowly lifted, elopement weddings in Cornwall going to be a popular choice! Aside from the fact that we’re itching to be back filming weddings, generally – it’s worth looking at one of the very best venues for Cornish elopements, Trenmenheere Sculpture Gardens, Penzance.
We’ve filmed more than a half a dozen at Trenmenheere – and absolutely love going back. Genuinely beautiful, the venue can boast itself the most unique in the South West.
If you don’t go any further (there are a lot of pictures and a heft amount of text!) – please do get in touch to talk about your elopement wedding Cornwall video (hideous SEO writing, sorry!). We always come up with bespoke packages to best suit your day – shorter coverage, live streaming of ceremony, 24 hour turnaround…the choice is yours! 🙂
Advantages for wedding film Cornwall – A Truly Unique Venue
Most weddings that take place at Trenmenheere are booked through Petite Weddings (an elopement wedding package service). A large scale gardens, with a popular coffee shop and sculpture/artistic exhibition area. It’s genuinely stunning.
A lot of the time we talk about all-in-one, exclusive venues (they’re our usual favourites), but Trenmenheere is different – it is very much not an all in one! No bridal prep, no drinks reception, no speeches, no first dance – just a stunning ceremony area, and a walk back through the gardens.
There are two ceremony areas, giving options whatever the weather. Unless it’s a bit of a downpour, there’s a wooden arbor area (you need to cross a bridge to get to it!). But if it rains, there’s a stone building – we were inside it, filming out when the took the image above!
It’s a 20 minute march from the car park up to the ceremony area, and 15 minutes down. (After arriving, brides are given a lift up to the top though!) We’ve learned, after a painful first experience, not to try and carry all our filming kit to the top – travel light and ask for a lift! Haha!
Advantages for wedding video – Fallen Angel (Bridal Prep)
This is an optional element in post-lockdown. We’re happy to film bridal prep (with suitable distance, and a mask!), or happy to meet you for the wedding at Trenmenheere, Cornwall
If booking through Petite Weddings, couples can make use of ‘Fallen Angel’, a stunning 2 bed property. A lovely view, bright and airy throughout (we are jealous every time we go there!). Couples can also get a private chef to cook for the duration of their stay.
We love filming here partly because the bride and groom are so close to each other – it’s such a great atmosphere. Marisa and Joe’s day also had their boys, while others have had dogs – brilliant fun, either way! It’s so lovely when bride and groom see each other before heading off; always so excited to know that they’re on their way to go and get married.
The rooms are stunning, and the outside area is perfect for letter reading, like we did with Marisa and Joe’s Elopement wedding video Cornwall.
Advantages for wedding video – Ceremony
It’s such a lovely ceremony area, with enough space for registrars, the couple and us to stay more than 1m apart. Surprisingly spacious, it’s perfect for the couple, and registrars are always brilliant, turning them to face towards us and the photographer. In terms of audio for the video, it’s really good – high winds are blocked mostly by the position of the registrars, and there’s obviously no echo.
Mostly though, it just looks amazing. The wooden frame, with even a small amount of decoration, looks lovely. And the trees in the background have enough separation to fall out of focus and look really nice.
Bright and airy, it’s an unconventional layout, but it means that the bride and groom don’t have their backs to everybody. Also, in terms of filming, we and the photographer are completely invisible (we stand out of eyeline, just down the steps in the middle), we can move around (quietly) if needed and don’t drawn any attention to ourselves. But we still get a perfect shot on the bride and groom!
Advantages for wedding video – Couples Photos
This is perfect! A wide, expansive gardens, all beautiful and natural – and we can definitely keep more than 2m away from everybody! There are so many different areas, you can get a great range of footage/images for the wedding film. It’s also perfect to give you a bit of time together to chat and have fun, and just revel in the excitement of what you’e just done!
Advantages for wedding video – Beach!
As you can see from the drone image (last one at the bottom), the beach is only a five minute drive from Trenmenheere. St Michael’s Mount is right there in the background! Marisa and Joe opted to expand their wedding video package a little to include an extra hour down on the beach – and it was 100% worth it.
We actually did both video AND photo – for the first time ever! We really enjoyed it. The images here are screengrabs from the film (we’ll do a separate blog post on the photos), but it was great fun. With the beach being so big, even when quite busy, it’s possible to stand in places that makes it feel as though the beach is quite empty.
With St Michael’s Mount in the background, it makes the whole image much more interesting. We love beaches, but unless the light is perfcet, great big open expanses aren’t as visually interesting – but this one is stunning.
